Book Outline
In the book, Doug Janoff critically examines the concept of homophobia, homophobic legal practices,
queer homicides and the “homosexual panic defence,” hate crime legislation, the regulation of
homosexuality by the state, the homophobic behaviour of police officers, as well as the laws,
policies and programs that attempt to address homophobic and transphobic violence in Canada.
